WillingnessBy Karen Vally on 27 Aug 2026
Willingness is “the cheerful readiness” to do something. It is “a catalyst.” It’s one that is “positively fuelled.” When we feel eager, enthusiastic, keen, open-minded and receptive, we are more likely to discover effective solutions to life’s challenges. “Willingness often comes about when we feel inspired to make a change in our lives.” “What we need to recognize, is that having a willingness, this desire and open-mindedness to do something meaningful, is not enough on its own.” We need to be honest, humble and believe in our ability to achieve a particular outcome. “Willingness is ultimately the result of both inspiration and our choices...It is our willingness to (respond) differently or to take a different path, that makes all the difference.” “The intensity of the challenge rarely matters if there is willingness.” “Ultimately, if there is a challenge showing up, it is happening because there is an adjustment needed.” “Those who are willing to think about things differently, to feel their feelings, to look at why issues are arising and to learn through experiences, grow in leaps and bounds.” “Willingness allows us to lower our suffering by helping us move with a situation instead of using all our energy to fight it...Building and maintaining willingness is a human practice that will always require work, effort and tenderness. Accepting this and taking it with you can ultimately forge a new path forward towards the things you want and need most.” |
