Invisible To The Eye

Today is Heritage Day. Ever since I heard a programme on SAFM last Saturday about a cultural event to celebrate Heritage Day in Johannesburg, I've been thinking a lot about its significance. It's an opportunity to reflect on our past, our present and our future.
"There is a word in South Africa, Ubuntu - a word that captures President Nelson Mandela's greatest gift: his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that are invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by sharing ourselves with others, and caring for those around us," President Barak Obama.
Let us be grateful for our roots, acknowledge and accept our differences and find the golden thread with which to weave a tapestry of which we shall all be proud.
