A Ripple EffectBy Karen Vally on 07 Jun 2023Part of being human, means that we don't always feel blissfully happy. The source of that despondency, is very often a negative thought. Instead of allowing ourselves to drown in a sea of negativity, it is helpful to sit down and take a few deep breaths. By regaining a sense of control, we can remind ourselves that just because we think something, it doesn't mean that it's true. We can either search for evidence to disprove this negative thought, or we can allow it to pass by, without latching onto it. How liberating it is, when we learn how to break this pattern. But, how can we change the way we feel? According to Andrew Matthews in his book, "How Life Works," one gets from one feeling to another in the same way in which one changes gear in a car, or on a bicycle. Andy Baggott, in his book called, Blissology The Art & Science of Happiness, says that the key lies in consistently doing the things that make us feel good. "Happiness is a state of mind, but more importantly, it is truly a state of feeling. It is our inner happiness that allows us to flow through life with joy. "When you feel different, you change your destiny." "Remember, the ripples are only there when you throw rocks in the pond. When you stop throwing rocks, the ripples will eventually disappear and the pond will be restored to its natural still state." "The true war occurs in the mind. Our mind is the battlefield and our thoughts are the weapons...whether we win or lose the daily battles we face, depends upon how we choose to think and what we decide to believe." |
